A Beginner's Guide to Bathroom Renovations & Pro Tips for First-Time Remodelers

One of the biggest misconceptions about bathroom remodeling is that remodels add no value to a home. While it is true that you are unlikely to recoup the entire cost of a bathroom remodel, at least a large-scale remodel, it is not true that you will end up losing money in the long run. I’ll be taking you through what the process really looks like.

Phase 1: Proactive Planning

Many of the Bathroom Renovations we complete are a full gut. The function & flow need improvement with a better thought out floor plan & often that means starting from scratch. Plumbing & electrical need to be relocated, semi custom or custom cabinetry, tiles, plumbing fixtures & lighting are all re-imagined.

Phase 2: Detailed Design

Before we even begin construction we have all tile, hardware, wood species, paint colors, lighting, plumbing fixtures & decor all chosen. This helps create a cohesive design throughout the bath and home. Character upgrades such as radiant heat flooring, steam showers and freestanding tubs which come in many different styles & finishes are wishlist items that add luxury to the bathroom.

Phase 3: Exceptional Execution

We source all our selections based on our client’s personal preference & budget. We coordinate with our subcontractor to implement the design, and are on site for all installations and to see the project through to completion.

A typical timeline for a Bathroom Renovation is 12 weeks. Costs range between 50k-200k depending on structural changes, relocation of plumbing, electrical and selected finishes. My best advise for getting started on the right track is to put together a wants vs wish list. Prioritizing what’s important and building a proposal from there allows you to still have the option to add the wishlist items if budget allows.
